Mary has a unique perspective in providing laser and aesthetic service training. In the healthcare industry since 1978, Mary has an in-depth history of the evolution and changes in the aesthetic market. As former owner of Flourish Skin and Laser, a thriving skin and laser clinic, Mary has worked as a technician and nurse, providing services to aesthetic clients. She was instrumental in the introduction of lasers and aesthetics beyond cosmetic surgery to that practice and helped in its expansion to two locations.

 

Since 2006, Mary has worked as a clinical trainer for Cutera lasers, providing education and training confidence to new laser operators in the Pacific Northwest and Canada. Her point of view and experience as a business owner has built successful management and marketing tools that she can share to help you prosper. She is the owner and a primary educator at Spectrum. She is a licensed esthetician in Oregon, Master Esthetician in Washington, Licensed Esthetic Instructor in Oregon and a Licensed Practical Nurse. Mary was selected to the Oregon Board of Cosmetology Rules Advisory Committee for Esthetics. She serves on the Board of Certified Advanced Estheticians.

 

She is the author of A Compendium for Advanced Esthetics, A Guide for the Master or Advanced Esthetician, as well as several policies and procedure manuals for medical spas, and a contributing author to Milady Pro, Day Spa magazine and Skin Inc.

 

In her spare time, she enjoys being a grandma, hiking, fishing, and camping with her hubby and family.

Rebecca runs the complex administrative side of our school and keeps all the balls in the air. She is a Certified Higher Education Professional whose multitasking skills and customer service commitment make her the perfect fit for keeping our training center running smoothly.

Rebecca is often the first contact for inquiring students and she maintains student attendance and transcript records. Her background in banking and city government and her creative ideas on marketing are a terrific asset to our team.

Rebecca spends her time away from work with her husband, Greg and their daughter, Brooklyn.

Carrera keeps the front desk running, scheduling clients and providing support to teaching staff. Carrera has her advanced esthetics license and worked at two medical spas in Vancouver before joining us at Spectrum. When not at work, you can find her hanging with her daughter, Cadence.

Michelle Wood comes from a  background where her skills in managing -small businesses as well as non-profits, has enabled her to customize systems and strategies for Spectrum’s success.

 

She is a superhero in our eyes, keeping us financially on track.

Kara Rowe is our Human Resources Consultant. Kara’s experience in managing employees in very large and small companies has helped employment at Spectrum stay within the legal requirements but her expertise shines when consulting on unique employment situations with our graduates. Her competence and judgment make her input at Spectrum extremely valuable.

Mandy is a born teacher. Her esthetic career started in 2003 in Chicago, but she moved to the Pacific Northwest and continued her esthetic journey.

 

We discovered her leadership skills when she attended our advanced esthetic program.

 

We are proud to have Mandy on our staff because she brings a perspective and a depth of knowledge from ten years as a solo practitioner in an esthetics practice. She’s a practical out-of-the-box thinker that connects with students.

 

Mandy is also active in her own studio at Salon Mojo when she isn’t teaching at Spectrum. She and her husband, Jordan, are avid fishermen.

Beatrice brings an unmatched depth and skill to our program and elevates the level of education our students receive with her passion for the industry.

 

She worked in medical esthetics for five years before directing her attention to education. After teaching basic esthetics in a holistic environment for ten years, she was ready for a return to a more clinical environment. Beatrice is the lead educator in our Clinical Master program.

When Bea isn’t in the classroom, she fulfills a role as a brand Ambassador for CND nail products. She and her husband are Star Wars buffs and enjoy an active lifestyle. Find Bea on her Instagram, beautybybeapdx.

Anna is an avid hiker and her spare time is spent in the outdoors of the Pacific Northwest.  She’s been in the esthetic industry for + years and has continually strived to ‘up her game’, staying ahead with education. Her students can appreciate her experience working in dermatologists’ office, where she brings skills in the cutting edge world of aesthetic dermatology. She enjoys sharing her professional journey to give students confidence.

An ability to multi-task with a smile on her face and in her voice is what drew us to Madison as a wonderful addition to our team. Madison will ensure each model/client at Spectrum is treated with genuine cheerfulness and respect. She also makes sure our documentation is up to snuff, meeting state requirements.

 

Madison is licensed as a certified advanced esthetician and knowledgeable about our medical esthetics program so she can guide clients in the best services to schedule and support students learning experiences.

Madison has also been certified as a Coolscupting University graduate, receiving master training at Coolsculpting headquarters in Pleasanton, California. Madison is a patient educator, providing terrific hands-on guidance for our students.

 

When Madison is not at work, she enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest with her dogs, Jax and Ranger.

Samantha is combining her childhood dream of becoming a teacher with her grown-up love of esthetics. We discovered her while she attended our advanced esthetics program and after she’d gotten some experience working in medi-spas in the Portland area, we welcomed her back on our team. Clients fall in love with her witty personality and she confidently performs treatments. Samantha assists in the clinical environment and provides support to other educators.

Samantha shares life with her husband, Kristo, daughter, Maggie and her cat, Pickle. She is an admitted Harry Potter ‘geek’.

Holly joins us after working at a plastic surgery office in Portland. Her skills in the real world performing client assessments, laser hair removal, IPL treatments, chemical peels, Coolsculpting and more help her relate to students and she can ensure they have the knowledge to get out and get a job! She holds the prestigious position as ZO Skin Health Crew Member.

She feels passionate about all things skincare and easily inspires students with her vision for excellence in esthetics.

Holly’s love of plants makes her especially interested in skincare ingredients. When she is not at work, Holly loves hanging with her son and hubby, catching a Portland vibe.

Christina is a gifted makeup artist and we are thankful for her abilities to share that love with our students. Her advanced esthetics skills are also superb due to her experience working in a medical spa in Canby. 

 

Her kind heart and sense of humor make her a student favorite. Christina spends time with her pooch, Amos, and with her family and loves being an ‘auntie’.  You’ll find her on the water during the summer because she is an avid paddleboarder.

Melissa comes from Washington state to teach lash extensions and dermaplaning. When she is not helping students learn, she works as a Master Esthetician in the Olympia area.

Francine Raften is a Marketing Executive with extensive expertise in media and public relations, social media, company or product launch strategy and execution, brand development and enhancement, political marketing and campaign management (22 wins out of 23 campaigns managed) and timely market and competitive intelligence. 

She also brings with her three decades of experience in television and radio, both in front of and behind the camera and the microphone. She provided marketing and public relations for several large medical spas in the Portland area and is a consumer of advanced esthetic services. Francine provides the consumer perspective on the advisory board. 

Her insights into what consumers are asking for helps ensure the training offered is relevant, and students have skills that the marketplace is demanding.

Sonia Dumas is a Family Nurse Practitioner who runs her own busy injectable practice in Tigard, A Touch of Youth. She also provides medical care in a concierge practice.  She grew up in New York and traveled a bit before making her home in Oregon. She has a zest for life and a passion for health. 

Her experience in Aesthetic Medicine makes her a valuable part of our team.

Sonia Dumas

Binny Skidgel received her tattoo certification in the field of permanent cosmetics from the Oregon Tattoo Academy in 2010 and her cosmetology certification in the field of esthetics from Phagan’s Cosmetology Colleges in 2012. She currently manages and works out of her spa, Renew Esthetics in Redmond, Oregon. 

A strong advocate for continuing education, she regularly participates in advanced training in both permanent cosmetics and esthetics. Recognizing the growing demand for medical esthetics and the need for comprehensive training for both patient safety and results, she received her advanced aesthetics certification in 2015 from Spectrum Advanced Aesthetics Institute. 

Binny Skidgel 

Dr. Anil Rajani is a Board-Certified physician and founder of RajaniMD. He specializes in minimally Invasive Aesthetic Medicine. He is a sought-after lecturer and trainer as well as an early adopter of the MicroCannula injection technique. 

Having performed thousands of liquid facelift procedures, he has helped countless patients avoid or delay surgical procedures.

Kimmy Morris has been a Licensed Esthetician and has worked in the Medical Aesthetics field since 2015. In addition, Kimmy is well versed in cutting edge equipment, treatments and skin care products as the owner of Skin Aesthetics & Laser in Tualatin.

 

She has a passion for Medical Aesthetics and believes these treatments are equally important to achieving optimal skin health. She is an advocate for continuing education and enjoys sharing her knowledge with her clients or those in the same industry.

Amber Starks is an advocate for continuing education. She was a member of the MultiEthnic Task Force, developing curriculum that addressed treating skin of color Her TED talk on A New Standard of Beauty makes her viewpoints important as a member of our Advisory Board.

Megan is the owner of Lightning Creative and Electric Beauty, focusing on media support for the beauty industry. Her photography skills provide each students with a professional headshot. Her videography skills enhance our curriculum and her storytelling skills support our social media outreach.

Sarah is a graphic design artist for film and television and is credited with designing Spectrum’s branding and marketing materials. She works collaboratively with the film industry and her work on the film, Political Animals, won the Audience Choice Award at the LA Film Fest in 2016.
