CoolSculpting is a unique treatment that contours and reshapes the appearance of the body. During the process, a handheld applicator uses cryolipolysis, a fat freezing technology, to freeze unwanted fat cells. The cells crystallize, die, and are eliminated through the body’s lymphatic system.
The FDA has currently approved the procedure for treating nine areas, including the
- Chin
- Jawline
- Love handles
- Outer and inner thighs
CoolSculpting is the ideal choice for individuals who need help to lose those last stubborn pounds. While CoolSculpting’s primary purpose centers around body contouring, it may also be used to stimulate new collagen and elastin fibers to improve the body’s overall aesthetic.

What Certification Do You Need for CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is considered a medical aesthetics treatment, so professional training and certification are required. While the procedure is FDA-cleared, the legal framework for administering CoolSculpting, including certifications, depends on state and local laws.
How Long Does It Take To Get Certified in CoolSculpting?
The length of time it takes to become certified in CoolSculpting varies from school to school.
At Spectrum Advanced Aesthetics, you can earn your Oregon Advanced Esthetician Certification in just over four months. Our 500-hour program prepares licensed estheticians to expand their careers into medical aesthetics and to pass their state board exam. Upon graduation, you’ll be prepared to work in a plastic surgery or dermatology office or open your own med-spa.
Do I Need a License To Offer CoolSculpting Services?
Yes. While all 50 states require a license to perform CoolSculpting, the exact license required varies by state and may include being a licensed esthetician, nurse practitioner, or physician.

How Much Do CoolSculpting Training Classes Cost?
The cost for CoolSculpting certification classes varies by location. When you choose Spectrum Advanced Aesthetics, your program costs include:

Our in-house, on-campus option also includes a Career Success Package complete with professional headshots, a customized marketing video, and a social media consultation to jumpstart your career upon graduation.
Spectrum does not offer a stand-alone CoolSculpting course. It is included in the 500-hour Advanced Esthetics program.
Are There Any Prerequisites Necessary To Begin CoolSculpting Training?
No, for many CoolSculpting certification classes, no preexisting requirements are needed, so while the technique is a great skill to add to the list of an experienced esthetician, it’s also perfect for beginners. In Oregon, a practitioner must be at least a licensed advanced esthetician.
Is There a Practical Component to CoolSculpting Classes?
Yes. Reputable CoolSculpting certification classes provide both didactic and practical training. Hands-on training opportunities typically involve practicing on models or real clients under supervision and learning the correct position of treatment applicators.
How Can I Find CoolSculpting Certification Classes Near Me?
While a simple Google search should provide results, it’s vital to research different programs to discover the one that’s best for you.
